Longfellow Elementary School Renovation and Addition – LEED Management Services

TerraLogos is serving as the LEED Coordinator to the project team, led by Smolen – Emr - Ilkovitch Architects (SEI), for the Longfellow Elementary School renovation. The Howard County Public School System is dedicated to making this a LEED certified facility and selected TerraLogos to lead the certification process due to our considerable experience and expertise on multiple public school LEED projects.

Longfellow Elementary School was built in 1970 and later renovated in 1987 and 1994. Since the last renovation, Longfellow Elementary has become overcrowded and added several portable classrooms on the school grounds. The purpose of this renovation is to increase the size of the school to accommodate the increased enrollment while creating a healthier learning and teaching environment.

In conjunction with the LEED certification, the design team will conduct an energy assessment of the existing facility and the proposed design. This assessment will aid the project team during the design phase by quantifying the lifecycle costs of various strategies and components, and give direction for optimizing the energy efficiency of the entire school.
